What feeds your plant, and why
Plant proteins
The primary nitrogen source is derived from organic plant meals. Unlike synthetic nitrogen salts that deliver a chemical spike and risk root burn, plant-based nitrogen releases slowly through natural biological processes in the soil. Your plant gets steady feeding over weeks rather than a single hit followed by nothing.
Plant-derived protein hydrolysates are a well studied class of biostimulant, associated in peer-reviewed trials with improved growth and nutrient-use efficiency across crops.
Why it matters in a container: a pot holds a few cups of soil, so excess nutrients have nowhere to go. Slow-release organic nitrogen is what keeps a pre-measured dose from becoming an overdose, in a windowsill pot or a patio planter alike.
Sea kelp
Kelp meal provides over 60 micronutrients including iron, zinc, manganese, and boron, plus natural plant growth compounds that support root development and stress tolerance. These are the same compounds commercial greenhouse operations use, delivered in a form you never have to measure or mix.
Mineral potassium
Fast-acting potassium supports root strength, flowering, and fruit development. It is the nutrient most directly responsible for the visible greening and vitality that motivates continued plant care, and it delivers the early visual result within the first days after application.
Beneficial soil microbes
Dormant beneficial Bacillus cultures ride inside the pod in a porous carbon framework. When watered they wake, colonise the root zone, and go to work on nutrient cycling and soil structure.
Bacillus species are among the most studied helpful soil bacteria in plant science. They are documented phosphorus solubilisers, and research describes their ability to prime a plant's own defences at the root, an effect researchers call induced systemic resistance. A fertilizer feeds the plant. BioPod feeds the plant, the soil, and the biology that connects them.

FSC-sourced cellulose paper that dissolves and disappears
The founder tested three shell materials through hands-on, bench-scale experimentation before choosing the one that goes into every pod.
PVA, the dissolvable synthetic polymer used in detergent pods, dissolved well. But PVA is still a petroleum-derived polymer, and dissolving is not the same as biodegrading. What happens to it afterwards depends on conditions downstream, and the science on its full breakdown is still debated. As an environmental scientist, the founder chose not to put a debated polymer into living soil. Plant-starch shells failed on humidity and shelf life. Cellulose paper passed everything: soil safety, moisture stability, shelf life, cost, and biodegradability.
The selected shell is made from FSC-sourced wood pulp fibers and a natural cellulose component. It is fully biodegradable and dissolves in soil within 30 to 90 seconds when watered, leaving no residue. Gentle on plants, soil life, and the household: family and pet friendly when used as directed.
